Removing Duplicates from a List

A question from my friend:

He has just exported a list of projects that contains duplicate names and wants to remove them.  He has not started on anything yet, so it’s just managing raw data.

The easiest method would be to create a pivot table from the list, copy the results from the pivot table and paste it as text.
The downside of this is that you can only work on raw data.

What if it’s a table and you’d prefer more control over the process?  (e.g. review each duplicate item before deciding to delete)
Another method would be to use a formula to identify the duplicates (refer to my earlier post) and look through the individual items and delete the ones you don’t want.
